Towards Inclusive and Practice-Oriented Teacher Education (TIPOTE)

Duration: 2024–2026

The TIPOTE Project aims to improve the quality and relevance of teacher education programmes in two Mozambican Higher Education Institutions: UP-Maputo and ISET-One World, in partnership with Jamk University of Applied Sciences and University of Lapland (Finland). A team of nearly 40 Key Experts collaborates to innovate, pilot new methods, and share results.


Project Aim

To strengthen the capacity of UP-Maputo and ISET-One World to deliver and further develop high-quality teacher education, ensuring improved competences in inclusive education across diverse Mozambican contexts.

Project Approach

TIPOTE combines two complementary approaches:

1) Human and Technological Capacity Building

  • Five face-to-face Training of Trainers sessions (one week each)
  • Staff exchange and study visits (Mozambique, neighbouring countries, and Finland)
  • Hands-on training in digital pedagogy
  • Upgrading hardware and software for digital learning

2) Practice Development (Living Labs)

Testing tools, models, and methods in real-life situations, using schools as “living laboratories.”

  • Multi-actor teams (teacher educators, student teachers, school teachers, pupils, and community members)
  • Identifying pedagogical challenges and co-creating inclusive solutions
  • Dedicated focus on Inclusive STEM with sustainable methods and increased participation of girls

Expected Results

  • Outcome 1: Strengthened capacity to provide learner-centred inclusive education (training, exchange, benchmarking, and digital tools).
  • Outcome 2: Improved evidence- and innovation-based pedagogical practices (Living Labs, Inclusive STEM tools, and national-level dissemination).
