Empowering Women as Promoters of the Sub-Saharan Social Economy

Maputo Pedagogical University, through the Faculty of Economics and Management, officially launched the course “Women’s Social Entrepreneurship I” on 12 March 2026, under the ÍMPAR Project – Empowering Women in Sub-Saharan Africa as Promoters of the Social Economy, funded by the Erasmus+ programme.

The initiative results from an international partnership that brings together the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon, the University of Cape Verde, the University of Mindelo, the Technical University of Angola, the Independent University of Angola, Eduardo Mondlane University, among other academic and institutional partners from the African and European regions.

The one-month course, with international certification, has as its main objective to strengthen women’s entrepreneurial skills, promoting economic inclusion, social innovation and sustainable development in communities across Sub-Saharan Africa.

During the launch ceremony, the commitment of the partner institutions to creating academic and professional training opportunities for women entrepreneurs was highlighted, reinforcing the role of the social economy as an instrument for social transformation, income generation and the reduction of inequalities.

The training includes practical and multidisciplinary approaches aimed at developing sustainable initiatives, women’s leadership, social business management and the creation of positive community impact.
